Michael Barnes holds the record for the oldest rider to win the Daytona 200 at the age of 47, in 2016. Barnes decided to retire in 2014 after serious injuries and despite having one podium finish in his 12 previous 200 starts, Barnes was able to pull off a victory. Barnes is currently racing in the MotoAmerica Twins Cup after a last-minute collaboration between Moto Corse Performance and Quarterley Racing On Track Development led to Barnes racing a Ducati Monster 797 at Road Atlanta. Barnes went on to win both races at Road Atlanta. Barnes has said that he previously had no intention of racing a full season, but that he will be at VIR May 4th and 5th.
